There is just over a week to go until the 4th edition of the Franke Kitchen Trends Project - Cape Town Edition kicks off at Decorex Cape Town.
The Franke Kitchen Trends Project held by Franke and endorsed by the Kitchen Specialists’ Association (KSA) will allow four innovative kitchen designers to compete in creating a dream kitchen using the same brief. Each kitchen design will be assessed by Franke and KSA, with the winning creator receiving R15, 000.00 worth of Franke products.
“An Expression of Colour”
This year’s participants, Holly Wood Kitchens, Unique Kitchens, The Kitchen Studio and Gardner interior Concepts, will each showcase their kitchen design skills while incorporating the theme "An Expression of Colour".
Both locally and abroad, we are seeing a major resurgence of colour in the kitchen. Bolder colours are complementing stainless steel, as well as the darker cabinet colours that are in style. Colour doesn't only have to be bold - think hues and tones.
While chatting with our participants on this year’s theme, owner of Holly Wood Kitchens, Vince Muir explained: “Kitchen colours are quite difficult to choose as there are so many other factors to take into account. We like to have a neutral colour scheme and let our clients add their own splash of colours with accessories, crockery and cookware which can be displayed on open shelves.” Gerhard Calitz, Director of Unique Kitchens added, “Although white joinery is still in high demand, a bit of colour does add magic to the room.”
Kitchen Trend Influences
A combination of textures, finishes and functionality is the key trend influencing Unique Kitchen’s design this year. Holly Wood Kitchens commented that they intend to take their design back to their roots with a very simple modern shaker style open plan kitchen. A kitchen with lots of space to both cook and entertain!
At a foundation level, the Kitchen Trends initiative ensures that the kitchen industry remains strong and continually is able to offer the South African consumer kitchens of a world class standard. Supporting this initiative Franke sponsor all participants with any product from its portfolio that they require in their kitchen design along with the same support from co-sponsors Grass and PG Bison who too believe in this initiative and its endeavours.
The opportunity to incorporate Franke’s comprehensive range of kitchen products into a kitchen design makes the job that much more enjoyable explains Vince of Holly Wood Kitchens:
Franke products are innovative, good quality and reasonably priced. There is also a huge selection of sizes, designs and finishes to choose from. Added to that Franke staff are highly professional and friendly and their service is awesome.”
We can't wait to see all four kitchens when they are complete and unveiled at this year's Decorex Cape Town show!
If you’re a kitchen enthusiast or are looking for ideas for your own kitchen be sure not to miss the show which runs from the 27th April to 1st May 2018 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
